NEXT WORKSHOP: Wednesday, May 20th @ 7 PM
Everyone has a story to tell. The Charlotte Thrive’s Storyjounaling Workshop is a space to explore, craft, and share your personal narratives in a supportive and interactive setting. Whether you're a seasoned storyteller or just beginning to find your voice, this workshop will help you connect with your experiences and bring them to life.
Every show has a theme, featured storyteller(s), journal prompts, and open mic will be guided by whatever the theme is for this month’s show.
For this month’s workshop…
Join the Charlotte Thrives team for a conversation regarding the 3.2 billion dollar I-77 Expansion Project, what neighborhoods will be affected, and why the public needs to know where how to will impact our Charlotte community.
We invite neighbors that will be directly impacted by this project, city council members, I-77 commuters, traffic engineers, the Charlotte public to speak to and imagine what is possible for this corridor.
The workshop will include:
📝 Storytelling & Guided journaling prompts
🎤 An open mic for community members to share personal stories
🎙️ Planting the seeds for community activation
📍 Pauline’s Tea Bar & Apothecary @thepaulineteabar
📅 Wednesday, May 20th | 7-9 PM
This is more than a storytelling event—it’s a chance to listen, to be heard, and to embrace the power of your own narrative. Come as you are, bring your story, and let’s create something meaningful together.

Participant Testimonials
“As an attendee, its obvious Charlotte Thrives events are filled with lots of intentionality, from the music selection, to the highlighted storyteller, to the location. The energy is welcoming, vibrant, and authentic and as a member of the LGBTQ community, I don’t always feel this so it means a lot! It feels safe to express, explore and meaningfully connect. I am grateful for these events and always look forward to attending.”
“The Storytelling Workshop and Open Mic is such an inviting, calm, and freeing experience. The atmosphere and vibe really welcome you to feel vulnerable yet safe. The prompts and open conversation aspects of the workshop challenge you to intentionally and critically think about many aspects of life that you eventually recognize how you relate to individuals of different backgrounds and walks of life. The workshop is a beautiful opportunity for connection with others but most importantly connection with yourself.”
“I’ve never been into writing as a creative outlet, I’ve always felt overwhelmed at the idea of filling a blank page. This workshop was the opposite of feeling overwhelmed. From the beginning you are welcomed by a space, a cozy tea shop, that is warm and inviting and forces closeness with the other participants of the event. Getting the opportunity to listen to Zulynette and others speak about their experiences as queer individuals was touching and thought provoking. The prompts asked allowed for the culmination of thoughts and feeling I had to be put to paper in a way that was easier to understand and then share with those around me. This workshop was so meaningful to me and Libba did such a fantastic job of fostering feelings of community and love throughout the night.”
