StoryJournaling Series
NEXT WORKSHOP: Friday, September 25th @ 7:30 PM at Summit Coffee on the Plaza
The StoryJournaling Series is back! If you’re new to our workshop, we harness the power of journaling to help you capture and preserve your unique stories. This September, our featured storyteller is Brittani Taylor. During her storytelling session, she will guide us through her artist’s journey and how she expresses herself through particular mediums. Themes that have emerged from her current work convey the power of water and using it to channel play in her photography.
Brittani’s artwork is on display throughout the event as a part of this season’s Eat Like An Artist art showcase at Summit Coffee on the plaza.
The evening will include:
📝 Storytelling & Guided journaling prompts
🎤 An open mic for community members to share personal stories
🎙️ planting the seeds for community activation
🌱 We believe storytelling is a sacred act of healing—both personal and collective. When we gather to listen and share, we make room for empathy, transformation, and joy. Come ready to witness, to be inspired, and maybe even to speak. Every story matters.
This event welcomes both seasoned artists and curious beginners. It’s a space where vulnerability is honored and creativity is nurtured.

Participant Testimonials
“As an attendee, its obvious Charlotte Thrives events are filled with lots of intentionality, from the music selection, to the highlighted storyteller, to the location. The energy is welcoming, vibrant, and authentic and as a member of the LGBTQ community, I don’t always feel this so it means a lot! It feels safe to express, explore and meaningfully connect. I am grateful for these events and always look forward to attending.”
“The Storytelling Workshop and Open Mic is such an inviting, calm, and freeing experience. The atmosphere and vibe really welcome you to feel vulnerable yet safe. The prompts and open conversation aspects of the workshop challenge you to intentionally and critically think about many aspects of life that you eventually recognize how you relate to individuals of different backgrounds and walks of life. The workshop is a beautiful opportunity for connection with others but most importantly connection with yourself.”
“I’ve never been into writing as a creative outlet, I’ve always felt overwhelmed at the idea of filling a blank page. This workshop was the opposite of feeling overwhelmed. From the beginning you are welcomed by a space, a cozy tea shop, that is warm and inviting and forces closeness with the other participants of the event. Getting the opportunity to listen to Zulynette and others speak about their experiences as queer individuals was touching and thought provoking. The prompts asked allowed for the culmination of thoughts and feeling I had to be put to paper in a way that was easier to understand and then share with those around me. This workshop was so meaningful to me and Libba did such a fantastic job of fostering feelings of community and love throughout the night.”
